North Korea’s new air defense missile system similar to Russia’s Tor

The new type of short-range air defense missile system was unveiled during Today’s military parade in North Korea.

The parade featured North Korea’s new type of weapons and ballistic missiles for the first time since Kim began meeting with international leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, in 2018.

The new short-range surface-to-air missile system was unveiled in early morning military parade on Saturday, marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the country’s ruling Worker’s Party.

Some experts said that the new system designed for destroying airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, precision-guided munitions, unmanned aerial vehicles and short-range ballistic threats and is similar to a Russian-made Tor system, designated the SA-15 by NATO.

The new system based on a semi-trailer carrying the missiles in its middle section.

Expected that the new missile system will protect military and government installations from airstrikes. It would destroy a variety of aerial targets such as cruise missiles, guided missiles, helicopters, aircraft, guided bombs, unmanned aerial systems, and high-precision weapons flying at low and medium-altitudes.
